Ford PH to launch something 'Big, Bad, Bold' on June 24
It's hasn't been long since Ford Philippines launched the updated Ford Everest that the American carmaker has just announced that it is launching something 'Big, Bad, and Bold' on June 24.
Based on the teaser image provided by Ford Philippines above, it may be the Ford -150, which was last sold here in its 10th-generation guise in the 1990s.
However, based on the 'Big, Bad, Bold' tagline on the teaser image above, it could also include the F-150-based big brother of the popular Ranger Raptor--the Ford SVT Raptor. After all, it's the same tagline Ford used to market the Raptor in its home market of the United States. Also, the gray market dealers proved the popularity of the Raptor locally and Ford Philippines may just want a piece of that sales pie. As a matter of fact, a quick check around one of Ford Philippines' dealerships in Metro Manila and you're bound to find a couple of Raptors parked outside.
Now, the question is if it's the right time to actually sell the F-150 in the Philippines again? For one thing, our local economy is still reeling right now from the effects of the global coronavirus pandemic. And perhaps the most important reason of all about the timing is that if this will actually be the current 13th-generation F-150 or the upcoming 14th-generation 2021 F-150 which Ford has announced will debut on June 25. If it's the former, then why should buyers buy it considering an all-new model is due to replace it next year? If it's the latter, then we'll be among the first to know about it a day ahead of its launch in the US. Also, Ford has said that a hybrid version will be one of the models offered at launch in the US, with an all-electric model following a couple of years later. We'll just have to wait and see if it--or both variants--will be offered here as well. Remember, you first read that here, not on some other motoring sites. Boy, those sites can really read brochures.
Shots fired!
