The Jeep Gladiator is Coming and it's Priced at...

That's right. The Jeep Gladiator is coming and it's priced at PHP3.89 million for the "entry-level" Gladiator Sport and PHP4.79 million for the Gladiator Rubicon.

Long overdue since it's 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show debut, Jeep calls it 'the most capable Jeep truck ever,' highlighting its "unmatched capability" with its Command-Trac and Rock-Trac 4x4 systems, third-generation Dana 44 axles, Tru-Lock electric front- and rear-axle lockers, Trac-Lok limited-slip differential, segment-exclusive electronic sway-bar disconnect and 33-inch off-road tires coupled by its water-fording capability of up to 30 inches, and its durable five-foot steel bed with covered external power source and strong integrated tie-downs, "providing versatility for flexible cargo options."

No word yet on it's local engine offerings though, at launch, the Gladiator was offered with either a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine with Engine Stop-Start (ESS) that puts out 285 horsepower and 353 Nm (260 lb.-ft.) of torque through either an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual, or a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V-6 with ESS and that produces 260 horsepower and 599 Nm (442 lb.-ft.) of torque through an eight-speed automatic. Though if we had to guess, it'll be offered with the V6 since that's what local Jeep distributor Auto Nation Group is offering with the standard Wrangler already.

Differentiating the two variants, the Rubicon's axle ratio is at 4.10:1 to the Sport's more plebian 3.45:1 and it also gets Dana 44 heavy-duty rear axles with antislip differential and Tru-Lok electronic remote locking front and rear differentials which the Sport doesn't. The Rubicon also gets Trailer Sway Control and Rock-Trac NV2410R manual, part-time, shift-on-the-fly transfer case; 4:1 low-gear ratio 4WD system.

Aesthetically, the Rubicon also gets rock rails, skid plates for the fuel tank, transfer case, and transmission, and an automatic climate control system.

"Unquestionably a truck and instantly recognizable as a Jeep, the all-new 2020 Gladiator is the ultimate vehicle for any outdoor adventure," said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Jeep Brand - North America at the Gladiator's launch. "There is tremendous demand for this unique vehicle from our loyal Jeep customers and pickup truck buyers everywhere. Born from a rich and proud heritage of tough, dependable Jeep trucks, Gladiator combines rugged utility, versatility and functionality resulting in the most capable Jeep truck ever."

Given that the prices of the Gladiator are now out and that some motoring journalists have already taken a unit out for a drive, the local launch will probably happen very, very soon.

With the recent launch of the Ford-F-150. 2020 is looking to be the year of the full-size pickup.
