DPWH Improves Roads Leading to Tourist Spots In Negros Occidental

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has been working on road improvement projects to boost tourism in Negros Occidental, completing three projects in Kabankalan City recently, with one more project in Sipalay City currently underway.

According to DPWH Negros Occidental 3rd DEO District Engineer Haydee Alunan, the completed tourism projects include the 1.16-kilometer access road from the national road leading to Mag-aso Falls in Brgy. Oringao, Kabankalan City complete with slope protection, metal guardrails, and reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings costing PHP29.4 million.

separate PHP9.4-million access road for Barangay Oringao's Sitio Pitgong going to Mag-aso Falls was also constructed which spans 560-lineal meter with slope protection, concrete shoulders, hazard markers, and reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings.

Another project completed by DPWH Negros Occidental 3rd DEO in Kabankalan City is the PHP24.5-million gravel to concrete road pavement leading to Barangay Daan Banua’s Bird Watching Area.

The ongoing project being constructed in Sipalay City is a PHP38.4-million improvement of a 315-lineal meter access road leading to the city's Sugar Beach and Langub Beach resorts.

The road improvement projects leading to Negros Occidental's tourism destinations are implemented in convergence with the Department of Tourism (DOT) to promote both tourism and socio-economic development in the province.
