DPWH: 15 Roads Still Closed Due to 'Quinta'; Damage to Infra Now at PHP58-Million
Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar announced that all road sections affected by Tropical Storm 'Quinta' in Bicol Region have been cleared and opened.
Secretary Villar said that clearing operations are on-going at the remaining 15 national road sections closed to traffic as of 6AM, Wednesday, October 28, 2020.
"Our deployed DPWH quick response teams are still clearing four (4) road sections in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), four (4) in Region 2, two (2) in Region 3, four (4) in Region 4-A, and one (1) in Region 10," added Secretary Villar.
In CAR, road closures are reported along Kennon Road; Tawang - Ambiong Road, K0263+900 - K0263+930, Sitio Lower Riverside, Brgy. Ambiong, La Trinidad, Benguet; Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road K0643+050-K0643+110, Maragmin Section, Calanasan, Apayao; and along Tabuk - Banawe via Tanudan – Barlig Road, K0522+150 - K0522+200, Matteled Section, Dupligan, Tanudan, Kalinga and K0522+200 – K0522+250, Dupligan, Tanudan, Kalinga due to unsafe roadway, road cut, and damaged/sunken pavement.
The Cabagan-Sta. Maria Overflow Bridge, in Cabagan, Sta. Maria, Isabela; intermittent sections of Cadcadir- Kabugao Road; the Jct. Logac Lasam Gagabutan Road (JLLGR) Rizal Section, k0760+700-k0761+500, Sitio Masi , Brgy. Talat, Rizal, Cagayan; and Manila North Road (MNR) K0590+150 in Brgy. San Juan, Sta. Praxedes, Cagayan remain impassable.
DPWH Region 3 reported the ongoing clearing operations along intermittent sections of Baliwag-Candaba -Sta. Ana Road in San Agustin, Candaba, Pampanga; and Candaba - San Miguel Road, K0072+750 – K0072+300, in Paralaya, Candaba, Pampanga.
In Region 4-A, four closed sections are: Batangas Tabangao-Lobo Road K0135+000-K0135+700; Talisay-Laurel-Agoncillo Unclassified Road at Sitio Manalao, Agoncillo, Batangas; intermittent sections of Tagaytay Taal Lake Road in Brgy. San Jose, Tagaytay City, Cavite; and the Indang-Alfonso via Luksuhin Road, K0058+600, Brgy. Mangas II, Ternate, Cavite while the Misamis Oriental -Bukidnon - Agusan Road, Siloo Bridge, in Brgy. San Luis, Malitbog, Bukidnon also remains impassable.
To date, partial cost of damage to national roads and bridges has already reached PHP58 million covering damages in Region 2 with PHP30 million, Region 4-A with PHP20 million, and Region 5 with PHP8 million.
