HPG: Driver in Cavite Shooting Incident Now Under Police Custody

The driver who was involved in the shooting incident in Cavite that resulted in the death of a police officer is now under police custody, the chief of the Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) said

In a report, HPG director, Brig. Gen. Alexander Tagum, identified the driver as Raymond Zuniega, one of the two suspects in an encounter with HPG personnel along a highway in Dalahican, Cavite on November 6.

Tagum said the suspect used a Nissan Terra as a getaway vehicle.

During the incident, Master Sgt. Julius Arcalas was killed along with the other suspect, Methusael Cebrian, a businessman.

While conducting a mobile patrol operation along a highway in Cavite, HPG officers chanced upon a Nissan Terra without plate number and conduction sticker.

Tagum said the policemen checked the vehicle and asked for pertinent documents from the driver. Instead of cooperating with the police, Cebrian allegedly alighted from the vehicle and fired upon Arcalas and the other police officers.

The police officers returned fire and killed the suspect.

Arcalas was brought to the Cavite Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival.
